"The soloist in Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 1 was Tatyana Lazareva.
She has amazing accomplishment in this student work, composed when Rachmaninov
was only a little older. The passage work seemed to now so naturally In her
hands and the orchestral contribution was sympathetic and light"

"The solo playing combined power, technical fluency - including a noticeably
positive left hand - and interpretative maturity. Much loving care was given to
the beautifully phrased Largo and If the Finale was too fast for comfort and
lacking wit. the concerto's vital freshness was never in doubt"

"There was some beautiful 'dovetailing' in the slow movement, where the
pianist found an eloquent stillness in the urmurred progress. The performance,
no surprisingly in so youthful a player sounded rather more taught than inspired
from within but it was still a most enjoyable one"

virtuosen Schwierigkeiten gespickten Klaviersatz beherrschte, ließ beste
russlsche Schule erkennen.
Also spielte Tania Lazarewa mit
Instrument so perfekt beherrschen. ßei Tania beginnt sich eine
vielversprechende Laufbahn abzuzeiehnen"

"It was the same piano player, with her confident striding across the
stage, her direct, but not presumptuous rapport with the orchestra and with the
audience; a seductive, flowing movement of arms and hands over the keybord. A
spiritually kindred sphere gave all the gleam, impetuosity and fancy, needed in
Rachmaninov"s Op.1. Certainly, its easy to be captivated by the spectacle
of a graceful performer. But let's close the eyes, and there remains a fine
balance between soloist and the orchestra".
